Hundreds of Children Detained, Tortured

I swear…the whole fucking world has gone insane…absotively, posolutely, infuckingsane.

Why do we hate children so much? (Or hate each other so much, for that matter?)

Torture? Imprison? Hang? Electrocute?

CHILDREN??

Here, there and everywhere – humans seem to have lost all ability to reason or feel compassion.

Why…just…why?!

There is no reason for this; no reason for so much of what is going on in this world that rattles my brain so hard I swear it is going to scrape it’s way out of my skull and run away screaming…Ugh.

“Almost all the children I know of who were arrested after 25 January have been tortured…”

“Hundreds of children – some as young as nine – have been illegally detained and in many cases tortured by the Egyptian police following the protests which erupted after the second anniversary of the 2011 uprising.

In what lawyers and activists say is a retrenchment of state brutality akin to the worst abuses of power during Hosni Mubarak’s regime, large numbers of children have been unlawfully imprisoned in camps used by Egypt’s central security forces.

Rights groups say that many of those detained have been subjected to cruel mistreatment, including beatings, electrocution and “hanging” torture. Others were forced by their tormentors to strip naked before being drenched with cold water.

One lawyer said he believed that up to 400 children, many of them barely teenagers, may have been rounded up during police operations following the outbreak of street clashes on 25 January, the anniversary of Egypt’s rebellion two years ago.”

USDA, School Lunch Reform & Aramark

(NaturalNews) With huge fanfare and an overdose of propaganda, the U.S. government is announcing it’s going to reform school lunches and vending machines to eliminate junk beverages like sodas. “Under new rules the Department of Agriculture proposed Friday, school vending machines would start selling water, lower-calorie sports drinks, diet sodas and baked chips instead,” reports the Washington Post.

Except, here’s the problem: We heard this same hoax six years ago when Bill Clinton was widely applauded for achieving the very same “reform” back then…

…Er, hold on a sec. Why is the USDA saying it’s going to ban sugary sodas in 2013 when Forbes.com reported that Bill Clinton already solved the problem in 2006?

Because it’s all a hoax.

Four years after Bill Clinton’s supposed “victory” over soda manufacturers, sodas had vastly EXPANDED their reach in U.S. schools.

The US government is in bed with junk food manufacturers

The US government has no intention of hurting the profits of its most powerful supporters: food and drug corporations. Forcing school lunches to become healthier means reduced profits for the processed food giants that supply all the genetically modified, chemically-preserved, refined, processed, nutrient-deprived crap that our children are raised on.

The goal of the USDA – the same department that has completely sold out to Monsanto, for the record — is to make it appear like they are doing something to improve the health of children while, in actuality, doing nothing to restrict the profit growth of junk food companies.

Remember: We’ve seen this same hoax before, back in 2006 with Bill Clinton. That too was praised as something of a “treaty” with junk food companies and soda manufacturers. But as I said back then, it was all a publicity stunt designed to delay any legislation. And it worked! No laws were passed and the soda continues to be sold to children all across our nation’s schools.

And as if locking children up for longer periods of time than many adults will ever serve isn’t shameful enough, we make matters worse when we then isolate them in solitary confinement. They get no human comfort or contact, no education, no mental health care…the system literally helps to drive troubled young kids stark raving mad.

“Hello Kitty” Terrorist Plot Prevented By School

Why the hell even bother sending kids to school? Wouldn’t it save The State $$ if they just started all kids on probation from age 4 and skip the IDIOTIC pretense that school is ‘for the good’ of the children instead of what it is…a monstrous mechanism that exists solely to prepare children for 2 paths – debt slave or outright imprisoned slave.

This story is just so far over the top that it makes my head spin like a merry-go-round on steroids…

“A 5-year-old girl was suspended from school earlier this week after she made what the school called a “terrorist threat.”

Her weapon of choice? A small, Hello Kitty automatic bubble blower.

The kindergartner, who attends Mount Carmel Area Elementary School in Pennsylvania, caught administrators’ attention after suggesting she and a classmate should shoot each other with bubbles.

“I think people know how harmless a bubble is. It doesn’t hurt,” said Robin Ficker, an attorney for the girl’s family. According to Ficker, the girl, whose identity has not been released, didn’t even have the bubble gun toy with her at school. 

The kindergartner was ordered to undergo a psychological evaluation during her 10-day suspension, which was later reduced to two days. The evaluation deemed the girl normal and not a threat to others, Ficker said.”

How many more problems is it going to take before taxpayers in Dona Ana county demand an investigation into the juvenile detention center? How are we rehabilitating children in an environment that cannot even keep employees, never mind teenage offenders, safe from harm? Why are we not demanding decent conditions and care for our young offenders and why can’t we ensure that older and more violent offenders are dealt with as they should be – in the ADULT penitentiary rather than a low-security youth facility?

School Surveillance: How Big Brother Spies on Pupils

Disturbing trend in more than just the US. Why are parents so quick to send their kids to a school that indoctrinates them with false fear(s) and then offers up the most invasive ‘solutions’ possible. How can children attending schools that resemble prisons, without any civil rights possible learn about Freedom..?

‘Every day in communities across the United States, children and adolescents spend the majority of their waking hours in schools that increasingly have come to resemble places of detention more than places of learning. From metal detectors to drug tests, from increased policing to all-seeing electronic surveillance, the schools of the 21st century reflect a society that has become fixated on crime, security and violence.”

So reads a passage from the opening pages of Lockdown High, a new book by the San Francisco-based journalist Annette Fuentes. Subtitled “When the schoolhouse becomes the jailhouse”, it tells a story that decisively began with the Columbine shootings of 1999, and from across the US, the text cites cases that are mind-boggling: a high-flying student from Arizona strip-searched because ibuprofen was not allowed under her school rules; the school in Texas where teachers can carry concealed handguns; and, most amazingly of all, the Philadelphia school that gave its pupils laptops equipped with a secret feature allowing them to be spied on outside classroom hours.

Just about all the schools Fuentes writes about are united by a belief in that most pernicious of principles, “zero tolerance”. Their scanners, cameras and computer applications are supplied by a US security industry that seems to grow bigger and more insatiable every year. And as she sees it, their neurotic emphasis on security has plenty of negative results: it renders the atmosphere in schools tense and fragile, and in coming down hard on young people for the smallest of transgressions, threatens to define their life chances at an early age – because, as she puts it, “suspensions and academic failure are strong predictors of entry into the criminal justice system”. There is also, of course, the small matter of personal privacy.

Kidnapping Hoax May Land Teen Couple in Hot Water

From SLC Tribune  “…Charges are being screened against a 17-year-old boy who falsely claimed he was kidnapped so he could stay at his girlfriend’s house instead of going home.

Salt Lake City police said the boy did not want to return home Monday night at his father’s request. They boy then sent a text to his dad that stated he would never see his son again…”

Best Treatment For At Risk Kids Is To Be Sold Out For Profit?

Tsk, tsk New Mexico! Is this really the best we can do for the children of this state? Where on earth did our lawmakers get the idea that it is okay to turn the fate and future of our kids over to a for-profit corporation? Could it be that legislators are in bed with this insurance corporation, Optum Health?

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - “A shift in the way New Mexico treats juvenile offenders has left some children adrift in their communities and in need of services, according to sources in the juvenile justice system.

“I believe that the current system needs a lot of work,” said Yolanda Deines, secretary of the Children, Youth and Families Department.

Take, for example, the current situation at the Youth Diagnostic and Development Center in Albuquerque, a state-run juvenile detention center. Once juvenile offenders are sentenced, they are sent to the facility to determine what kind of treatment they need and where they will receive it.

That process is supposed to take three weeks, but is now taking up to three months…”

…A Lakewood Police report shows the shocking details of the eight-year-old’s meltdown at Glennon Heights Elementary, in the US, on February 22, 9News reported.
Teachers were so scared of the boy that they barricaded themselves in a room and called police because he was “spitting” at them and had broken “wood trim off the walls and [was] trying to stab [them] with it.”

…Police told the boy to drop the stick twice but he refused so officers used two doses of pepper spray to subdue the youngster. He was also handcuffed and later taken to a school for children with behavioral issues.

There is new evidence that state governments are finally understanding what a tragic mistake they made during the 1990s when they began trying ever larger numbers of children as adults instead of sending them to the juvenile justice system.

Prosecutors argued that harsh sentencing would protect the public from violent, youthful predators. But it has since turned out that most young people who spend time in jails and prisons are charged with nonviolent offenses. As many as half are never convicted of anything at all. In addition, research has shown that these young people are vulnerable to battery and rape at the hands of adult inmates and more likely to become violent, lifelong criminals than those who are held in juvenile custody.

A new study by the Campaign for Youth Justice, a Washington advocacy group, shows that state legislatures across the country are getting the message. In the last five years, the authors say, 15 states have passed nearly 30 pieces of legislation aimed at reversing policies that funnel a quarter of a million children into the adult justice system each year.

Ten states, including Arizona, Connecticut, Illinois, Indiana and Nevada, have cut the number of offenses that get youthful offenders automatically transferred to adult courts.

Three states have expanded the jurisdiction of the juvenile courts, so that children under 18 are no long automatically prosecuted as adults. And several states have limited the circumstances under which young people can be housed in adult lock-ups before or after conviction.

Momentum is building for similar reforms all across the country. For example, Nebraska is considering a bill that would give people sentenced as juveniles to life without parole an opportunity to petition for reductions.

Far too many children are still being sentenced by adult courts and confined to adult prisons. But this study shows that the tide has begun to turn.

We allow our children to sit in classrooms and be made to feel like dirt instead of being taught the truth – that it was White Americans who put an end to slavery and that slave trading is still common practice in Africa. Our own kind were slaves and poor White slaves often suffered worse conditions than Black slaves. Why is this not in our textbooks? Why aren’t kids being taught the COMPLETE history? If we would teach the truth about history then Black racism would be exposed for what it really is; straight up violent hatred that stems from their own self-induced glorified ghetto culture and NOTHING else.

If we told the truth, the victimization as an excuse for failure crutch would be ripped away from millions of the supposed ‘underprivileged/persecuted’ African communities. Their failure to accept personal responsibility for their own lives would be exposed under a huge, glaring spotlight. Billions of tax and special funding dollars would be lost to them as would the racially biased advantages that Affirmative Action created for them.

They might even have to step up and accept responsibility for the monsters among them like the ones in the article below who prey on young White boys not because of any past sins, but simply because their own culture does not encourage instilling decent behavior or moral values in their youth.

The Gran Emporium – Two men have been arrested and charged with a hate crime for the four hour beating of a 16-year-old white teen for “enslaving their people.”As previously reported, Shane McClellan of West Seattle was beaten May 25 by two men, now identified as 22-year-old Ahmed Mohamed and 21-year-old Jonathan Baquiring.

Police say the men asked the teen for a light when he was walking home alone before kicking, punching and beating him with his own belt saying, “This is for enslaving our people.”

During the attack which police said lasted four hours, the men peed on McClellan, put out cigarettes on his neck and poured energy beer on him while they have asked, “How do you like it white boy?”

The boy was left with a concussion and barely recognizable face while Mohamed and Baquiring were seen near the scene with dried blood on their hands and drinking the same type of energy beer poured on the victim.

Police did not arrest the men however but took samples of the blood on them for testing.

Both have been charged with first-degree robbery and malicious harassment, the state’s hate-crime statute.

Mohamed has been arrested; police are still looking for Baquiring.

5th Graders In Prison Cells?

 

It is still rather hard to fathom how it is that we came to the point of placing 10 year old children in prison settings and facilities and yet claim to be one of the most advanced nations on earth. How much common sense does it take to see that except for in the most extreme of cases, yanking kids from their schools and home environments is not going to ‘rehabilitate’ them at all?

“Fifth-graders are better off learning fractions than serving hard time. With that in mind, Rep. Annazette Collins wants to know why there are fifth-graders in Illinois youth detention centers.

Collins, a Chicago Democrat, is chief sponsor to a bill that would keep children as young as 10 out of detention centers altogether. Her proposed legislation, introduced in Janaury, would boost the minimum age of youth in detention centers from 10 to 13.

Collins has toured the detention facility in Cook County, and believes that children as young as 10 and as old as 12 should not be exposed to a detention center for any length of time.

“What are we going to do with a fifth-grader in jail?” Collins says. “And so it just makes sense that we would use all our resources first before we even keep them in detention.”

The Illinois State Bar Association is also supporting juvenile detention reform this spring.

“We’re trying to raise the bar, raise the awareness that there’s a need, a rather urgent need for reform in the juvenile justice area,” says Mark D. Hassakis, president of the Illinois State Bar Association. The ISBA partners with the Illinois Bar Foundation, a “charitable arm” of the ISBA, to explore legal issues like those in juvenile justice.             

Hassakis recently spent time touring Cook County’s detention center with Betsy Clark, president and founder of the Juvenile Justice Initiative. Hassakis promotes awareness of alternatives to incarceration for youth under the age of 18.

Collins reasons that youth as young as 10 should not be removed from their families. Children may be traumatized by the experience.”

11 Year Old Stick Figure Artist Arrested

An 11-year-old Arvada boy was arrested and taken away in handcuffs for drawing stick figures in school, something his therapist told him to do.

The boy’s parents say they understand what he did was inappropriate, but are outraged by the way Arvada Police handled the case. The parents do not want their real names used.

The parents said “Tim” is being treated for Attention Deficit Disorder and his therapist told him to draw pictures when he got upset, rather than disrupt the class. So that’s what he did.

Last October, he drew stick figures of himself with a gun, pointed at four other stick figures with the words “teacher must die.”

He felt calmer and was throwing the picture away when the teacher saw it and sent him to the principal’s office.

The school was aware that the boy was in treatment, determined he was not a threat, notified his parents and sent him back to class. His mother, “Jane” was shocked when Arvada Police showed up at their home later that night.

She says she told her son to cooperate and tell the truth, but was horrified when they told her they were arresting him and then handcuffed him and hauled him away in a patrol car. His mother says she begged police to let her drive her son to the police department and to let her stay with him through the booking process but they refused.

They put him in a cell, took his mug shot and fingerprinted him. He says he thought he was going to jail and would never be able to go home again.
