TO KILL A WHALE

Diesel powered ships
fueled by money, greed
and humans paid to crew
hunger to kill for pay
mega sized pointy spears
of monolith resistant steel
built-in hooks with jagged edges
spools of ropes and cording
explosive penthrite-tipped
cannon powered violent action
heartless slaughter intended
body piercing harpoon style
into ideal depth of the flesh…
As we speak the Japanese whaling ships are heading for the Southern Ocean in hopes of executing their annual slaughter of 100′s of whales in the name of “scientific research.” They enter whale safe zones that are set up as sanctuaries and obliterate them. The whale meat is consistently found later in the marketplace. Volunteer groups, such as The Sea Shepherd Conservation Society and Greenspeace patrol the sanctuaries and are successful in short-circuiting many, but not all of the illegal poaching. Thank you for the reblog and for helping to raise public awareness of what is at the top of most urgent issues facing our planet today. ~Gerean Pflug for The Animal Spirits
