Officers in Colorado shot and killed a(nother) dog when they SHOWED UP AT THE WRONG ADDRESS…after the shooting an officer told the dog’s owner,
“You need to calm down. You can get a new dog.”
My littlest dog’s name is Ziggy…as if this story wouldn’t get me right and properly riled and ranting anyways…the coincidental name just makes this hit really close to home. Since when did officers become such scaredy cats, I wonder? Why are so many of them so eager to pull the trigger and murder INNOCENT pets?? If they have to carry out violence against animals, couldn’t they at least use bean-bag rounds, HALT…a stick….ANYTHING OTHER THAN THEIR GUNS???

“ADAMS COUNTY – A dog was shot to death by Adams County deputies Monday night, according to the Animal Law Center.
The Center claims the 8-year-old blue heeler/border collie mix named Ziggy was killed by the deputies.
The Animal Law Center says the shooting occurred in the 5400 block of Tennyson Street in Denver.
Jeff Fisher, the owner of Ziggy, as well as Jennifer Edwards, a lawyer and founder of the Animal Law Center, spoke to media members at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Fisher claimed deputies opened his door at 8 p.m. on Monday. Ziggy ran outside and the deputies shot his 35-pound dog three times.
He claims deputies had the wrong address.
“They just opened the door and opened fire on my dog,” Fisher said sobbing.”

What business was it of theirs to fire upon the dog?
The dog did exactly what my dogs do if I don’t corral them all out in the back yard before I open my front door…he ran outside when the door opened…tails wagging…

A married father of two, and a veteran of Desert Storm II was murdered by our government over a freakin’ joint! And no marijuana was found. He was murdered in front of his kids and wife. Claim he was reaching for a gun because he had four guns, shot him 16 times while he was laying in his on bed. You heard it right, 16 times. No guns were found, they were next door locked in a safe. Thank you SO much for all of the links and information. I knew about all of the No-Knock raids except the last one that you mentioned…shooting a man 16 times??? I can’t even say it is unbelievable because I know better. Lindy’s video is OUTSTANDING; hands down one of the best pieces of citizen-created reporting that there is.

This totally makes me irate!! And so majorly pissed off. I have two GSD’s, as you know, my mail lady, FedEx, UPS and my Schwan’s guy can all pull into my yard and be welcomed. Are my dogs barking? Yes, are their tails wagging? Yes. They know these people aren’t here to “harm” me. Do the dogs watch them? Of course they do, when they find everything is fine, their off looking for treats. A 35 pound dog was killed in this instance…seriously a 35 pound dog? Wtf? Besides the bean bags bullets, what about mace, what about stun guns…something that would not kill them. The only time my dogs have bitten someone is when they feel threatened or know something is wrong and that has been twice…both times were well founded too. It sickens me that officers feel the need to shoot and run. The wrong address kill me even more. Though I’m not fond of my police department they have been to my house (neighbor problems) and they always ask me to put my dogs inside. They ask nicely and I have no problem doing that. They have a K-9 unit so they have a GSD but, I do know they can be intimidating. No reason to kill them though or any other dog. Sorry, I’m rambling now…that’s what I do when I’m pissed
I hear ya, Suzie…I really was smashing my keyboard as I typed I was so irate and bent out of shape. I do not get it; I do not understand this latest – horrid – trend of gunning for dogs. WTF next…will they shoot a cat or goat and claim self-defense? No matter right address or wrong; there are going to be very few times an officer might actually need a gun to fend of a PET. Makes me wanna go mix a stiff drink, burn some candles, throw in some Dave Matthews…and just try to forget that no, seriously…this IS the country I live in..!
