This is one of those stories that kind of leaves me grasping for words…mandatory flotation devices…for dogs? Er…uhm…life jackets…for the very creatures we named the most popular swimming style in the world after..?
Next thing will be a move to outlaw the Doggie Paddle in pools nationwide…better yet, we can just ban all pools of water over 2 inches deep…gotta keep people – and their pets – safe, right?

Although some dog breeds cannot swim, most Americans believe dogs are naturals in the water. Mammals will kick their feet to stay afloat in the water as a natural instinct; a new law being proposed in Colo. may confuse so many Americans. Colo.’s Department of Agriculture is now considering rules to mandate life jackets for dogs in kennels and daycare facilities…
…The current drafted proposal reads: “Every dog must wear a personal flotation device while in or while having access to a pool area whenever the pool water is deeper than the height of the dog at its shoulder.” PACFA oversees the almost 2,000 pet care facilities in the state and would most likely have to hire new employees to oversee “observing dogs in pools”. Anderson claims “this is not a new idea” but admits Colo. would be one of the first states to implement this kind of law. Full Story Here

There are various ways to implement a Police State and they are using both. The Republicans (Police State party) implement all types of unconstitutional, and unlawful laws to “keep us safe” from “those bad terrorist.” The Democrats use the excuse to “keep the children safe.” No matter which method is used, it is the same thing, trying to reduce society to the lowest common denominator.
The scary part is how effective it is and how well the *safety* laws work on the psyche of the masses. We not only give up freedoms, we bow down and thank the folks who take them…ugh!
