Woman Faces Fines For Feeding Needy Children

…Sometimes I really just want to crawl off into my DreamCave and never return to this insane society. My brain keeps repeating the words but the full meaning isn’t quite being comprehended…

“We live in a world where we penalize people who help themselves or help others.”

And no matter how many stories I see that bend my mind and twist reality into something I can no longer recognize, I still find that I am sometimes stunned at how absurd and outrageous government intrusion into every single aspect of our lives has become.

Maybe if I just repeat it to myself a few (hundred) more times my poor, muddled brain will finally come to understand that YES, I really do live in a country that does not allow citizens and communities to decide for themselves how best to care for themselves and for each other…

Fox News – A Pennsylvania woman who offers free lunch every day to low-income children in her neighborhood faces a $600-a-day fine next summer if she continues because she did not clear the food giveaway with township officials.

Angela Prattis donates her time to distribute the meals — supplied by the Archdiocese of Philadelphia — and adheres to strict paperwork, like filling out weekly reports and being visited bi-weekly from a state worker, MyFoxPhilly.com reports.

Chester Township, which has a per capita income of $19,000 a year, says Prattis lives in a residential zone, hence handing out food to children is not allowed. The township says she needs to go before a zoning board to ask for a variance, which would cost her up to $1,000 in administrative fees.

Okay, maybe I’m a big sap but, that made me cry! How can the city officials want to fine her, she should be getting some kind of award! That is truly horrible. I did like how the one guy offered to send her the $1,000 check though. As the first video points out it’s just wrong on so many different levels. I applaud Angela and hope she continues to do what she’s doing. There’s a ‘special’ place for all the other imbeciles. Ugh.

  2. Yeah, this one got to me, too. She should be applauded, awarded and all around supported for what she is doing! WHAT in the HELL could’ve gone through the officials’ heads to make them decide to penalize this woman??? I’m sure they have some kind of bullshit ‘public health/safety’ reason to recite but still…I don’t understand how humans can look at someone acting in kindness – helping CHILDREN no less – and close their eyes & hearts and decide fuckit, let’s stop this!
And I no sooner made this post when I saw another headline about a city council forcing a family to make their daughter give up her pet bunny….because the home isn’t ‘zoned for livestock’…just know that I spared you a few tears by not posting that story as well…fuckityfuckfuck UGH!

Well, thank you for not posting that one too…wtf?!? Zoned for livestock, give me a break! Some people seriously just need to be shot. I don’t know how else to say it. If you have nothing better to do than be mean to people, your not worth having around. You are miserable and might as well go visit your friends in hell and be happy together….ugh! Sorry, went on a little rant there but, geesh. I’m far from perfect but, I don’t go picking on the young and innocent…:(

If only this was an isolated incident…Phoenix doesn’t even let people give out bottled water when it’s 112 Degrees out.

  6. If those fining her had a lick of compassion, they’d raise the funds to cover the fine, ask her how else they could support her efforts and heap blessings upon her for her love and consideration in action. Blessings on the empathetic. Blessings on the compassionate. Blessings on this woman and on all of the kind and gentle spirits of this planet who choose to live and act humanely despite those who put law and a buck ahead of the needs of living beings. ~Gerean Pflug, The Animal Spirits

    • Sometimes it hurts my heart to see/read what we are capable of doing to one another. More so to see what we are capable of ignoring in our world….officers had to willfully look past the hungry children in order to issue these citations and still they chose to participate.
Thanks for dropping by – many warm, wonderful blessings to you!
