I cannot imagine how terrifying it would be to be left shackled in a cell…and forgotten for FIVE days while DEA agents are going about their business only a few inches away – and pretending not to hear my screams. The man this happened to was charged with no crime and appears to be guilty only of partying at the wrong house on 4-20…and for such a *crime* he nearly lost his life.
Isn’t it grand to see our tax dollars working so hard as we continue our insane War on Citizens, er I mean War on Personal Freedom…oops, I mean the War on Drugs…
Imagine being shackled and left in a small room to rot.
For five days this was a reality for Daniel Chong, a 24-year-old University of California, San Diego engineering student detained and then forgotten about by the Drug Enforcement Administration.
Chong was detained on April 21 when agents raided the home of a drug dealer. The agency confiscated 18,000 ecstasy pills, along with other drugs and guns.
Seven people at the house were taken into custody. Five were processed and sent to county jail, one was released, and Chong was accidentally left in a cell.
NBC San Diego reports that, according to Chong, “agents questioned him, and then told him he could go home. One agent even offered him a ride.”
And then for five days, Chong was left handcuffed and alone in a 5-by-10-foot cell…
Wow! 5 days and they’re walking past his cell and don’t hear his screams…wtf?!? Let’s put the DEA agents in there for 5 days with no food or water and shackled. Nooooo, that would never happen they’ll just be “moved” to another position for 6 months to make it look “good”.
Suzie, I agree 100%…the men responsible should be made to suffer what they made this kid suffer. I think the same thing when guards abuse our prisoners but no, it’ll never happen. I helped expose horrible abuses in one of our prisons and the end result was the warden getting promoted so you’re right about what’ll likely happen to the DEA agents, unfortunately.
Oi Ducki!
This is Batshit Crazy… poor fucking guy!
Heya Rob! It IS batshit crazy…but it’s also pretty well in line for the state of the world, no?
That is awful! The world contains some frighteningly sick, twisted individuals…that poor guy’s plight hardly bears thinking about. Talk about abuse of human rights. The “sickos” responsible for that guy’s plight should have been shackled and shown the same shameful, disgusting abuse as they inflicted on this guy…if nothing else I’d guess they’d be very unlikely to ever do it again.
Hi Wofie – it is awful. And scary!! The kid was dumb for partying at a dealer’s house but to suffer THIS?? My god, it is like something from a badly written movie and almost unbelievable, isn’t it? But no punishment will come to the DEA agents – even if it is proven they did this intentionally and not accidentally as they’re claiming. The ugliness we spread around to each other makes me want to just run…away, away, away! I know there has to be some quiet forest left somewhere…where life is sane and the world might still make sense!
