I’m just in too good of a mood today to go slogging through any political muck or corporate misdeeds so I thought I would share the inspirational words and works of one of my all time favorite musicians. I stumbled across his work when I was around 14 years old and he has remained a constant rotation in my music collection. Listening to his music calms me on bad days and elevates me on already good days. I hope you enjoy his beautiful tune as much as I do!

  1. I didn’t know you knew Michael!!!!!!

He was a bigtime innovator. He created his own unique tunings for guitar – and even his own stringing. He’d string sometimes with a large D string where the big E would normally be, and then go down in the normal progression to where the smallest string was not a little E, but the second string, the little B string.

So he’d string like this, from largest to smallest, D, E, A, D, G, B – and then tune that his own way, and besides all of that, his technique for playing was WAY atypical too.

How could we have had 500 conversations about music without Michael ever having been mentioned?!?!

He also made his own instruments to suit his needs, or more like, the needs of the music. What a tragedy to have lost him at such an early age – imagine how much work was left unfinished?

I love, love, love his work and never get tired of hearing his music. It has played as the soundtrack to many a memory for me…and all of them good!
